CARNEGIE HALL PRESENTS

Miah Persson
Malcolm Martineau

Wednesday, March 22, 2017 7:30 PM Zankel Hall
Please note that Florian Boesch has regretfully withdrawn from this performance due to illness. Miah Persson will instead offer a solo recital with pianist Malcolm Martineau.

The year 1840 was a miraculous one for Schumann, devoting himself almost exclusively to song composition. Long melodic lines and a prominent role for the piano makes his songs among the most remarkable of the time. This concert features music from that year, including the impassioned Frauenliebe und –leben, a celebration of love, marriage, and motherhood. There’s also music by his beloved wife, Clara, and richly melodic songs by Grieg.
